busted ✘ there's a lot of truth in lies

Getting home on time is something that Bellamy has never actually counted on; late nights at the office are par for the course and more to the point, he doesn't really mind. (Though when they get a little too regular, he finds someone to feed Drustan for him.) It's a fact of life that he works too much and socializes too little for a long time, occasionally pointing to his dinners with family to prop up his excuses that he's not that bad.

(He is that bad.)

The point is, when he gets off his shift and drives home, he's used to a quiet street and an apartment disturbed only by the disturbing animal lurking within its dim-lit depths. After dealing with the clusterfuck that is the Chapman case that's all he wants to find when he gets home, and he really isn't expecting to see Hasi on his doorstep when he approaches with keys in hand.

This merits a pause.
